There are several mailing lists dedicated to discussion of the Debian
system. You can subscribe to them by sending mail to the list server
program, or if you have World Wide Web access, you can use a WWW form
to subscribe.

The mailing list debian-announce@pixar.com carries announcements
concerning the Debian system. To subscribe, send mail to
debian-announce-request@pixar.com with the word ``subscribe'' in the
message body. The list is moderated by Bruce Perens, Bruce@Pixar.com.

debian-user@pixar.com is for discussion between users and with the
developers. To subscribe, send mail to debian-user-request@pixar.com
with the word ``subscribe'' in the message body. The list is not
moderated, but is maintained by Bruce@Pixar.com.

debian-changes@pixar.com carries announcements of new Debian
packages and changes to the system. To subscribe, send mail to
debian-changes-request@pixar.com with the word ``subscribe'' in the
message body.

debian-devel@pixar.com is a closed mailing list for the developers of
Debian packages. To subscribe, send mail to Bruce@Pixar.com with a
one-line explanation of why you should be on the list. Explanations
should be of the form ``I'm working on the <whatever> package.'', or
``I'd like to work on a package.'', etc.
